Give each team an identical mixed collection of large empty plastic eggs and several baskets marked with matching colors. Place baskets on a table near the team.
What you need
- Large plastic eggs
- Baskets
- Colored paper
A phone timer is handy for timed rounds. Set out supplies before guests arrive, and give the group one practice turn if the rules are new to them.
How to play
- The first player selects one egg and puts it in the matching basket, then returns to their place.
- The next teammate sorts one egg. Continue taking turns until the collection is sorted.
- Check baskets together. Move any misplaced eggs before calling the round complete.
- The first team with a correct sort wins. Play a second round with colors assigned to different baskets.
Prompts and round ideas
- Round one: sort by color
- Round two: sort by matching color labels
- Cooperative round: everyone sorts one large collection
Make it work for your group
Use large colored paper cards if eggs are not available. For a seated version, pass one item around the table to the correct basket.
A host’s note
Make it a walking or seated relay, never a race across a crowded room. Keep egg halves together and away from younger children.
Plan your party flow
Explain the aim before handing out supplies, then demonstrate one turn. Let guests join as a player, helper, or spectator. Stop while the group is still enjoying the game rather than adding extra rounds just to fill time.
