Place five paper plates on the ground in a cluster and label them 1 through 5. Secure edges if playing indoors or use heavier reusable targets outdoors.

Players: 2–12Play time: About 20 minutesBest fit: Ages 5+

What you need

A phone timer is handy for timed rounds. Set out supplies before guests arrive, and give the group one practice turn if the rules are new to them.

How to play

  1. Each player takes three beanbag throws from the marked line.
  2. A bag scores the plate number if its center rests on the plate. A bag off all plates earns zero.
  3. Retrieve bags after the turn and add the points.
  4. Play four rounds. Highest total wins; move the line only between complete rounds so everyone has the same conditions.

Prompts and round ideas

Make it work for your group

Rolled socks work indoors. For small children, use three large targets labeled with single points rather than different values.

A host’s note

Choose a flat area away from paths and breakables. Stop if wind makes the targets unstable.

Plan your party flow

Explain the aim before handing out supplies, then demonstrate one turn. Let guests join as a player, helper, or spectator. Stop while the group is still enjoying the game rather than adding extra rounds just to fill time.
