Split into two teams of three to eight. Put a paper stack at each team’s station and prepare matching lists of six prompts. Choose one scorekeeper.

Players: 6–16Play time: About 20 minutesBest fit: Ages 7+

What you need

A phone timer is handy for timed rounds. Set out supplies before guests arrive, and give the group one practice turn if the rules are new to them.

How to play

  1. The first artist on each team sees the first prompt and draws for up to 45 seconds without writing words or numbers.
  2. Teammates guess. A correct answer earns a point and moves that team to the next prompt.
  3. At the end of 45 seconds, switch artists whether or not the prompt was guessed. Unsolved prompts are skipped.
  4. After six turns, compare totals. A tie ends in a shared win or a single bonus prompt for both teams.

Prompts and round ideas

Make it work for your group

Have teams play alternately if one host cannot watch both at once. Give younger artists 60 seconds.

A host’s note

Avoid drawing directly on a dining table without a protective surface. Keep food and drinks away from the paper station.

Plan your party flow

Explain the aim before handing out supplies, then demonstrate one turn. Let guests join as a player, helper, or spectator. Stop while the group is still enjoying the game rather than adding extra rounds just to fill time.
