Prepare a stack of festive object words. Make two teams and select a 45-second timer. One person gives clues while their teammates guess.
What you need
- Paper slips
- Pencils
- Timer
A phone timer is handy for timed rounds. Set out supplies before guests arrive, and give the group one practice turn if the rules are new to them.
How to play
- The clue-giver draws a word and describes it without saying the word or any part of it.
- A correct answer earns one point. The clue-giver may draw the next word immediately and continue until time ends.
- Allow one pass per turn. A forbidden word means that slip is discarded without a point.
- Alternate teams for six turns each and compare totals. Let every player have a chance to give clues.
Prompts and round ideas
- Stocking
- Snow globe

- Tinsel
Make it work for your group
For a winter-only version, remove tradition-specific objects and add boots, sled, earmuffs, ice skates, and snow shovel.
A host’s note
Agree before starting that plural forms and obvious word stems count as saying the word. Gestures can be allowed if everyone prefers.
Plan your party flow
Explain the aim before handing out supplies, then demonstrate one turn. Let guests join as a player, helper, or spectator. Stop while the group is still enjoying the game rather than adding extra rounds just to fill time.
