Give every player a sheet of paper and a marker. Fold each sheet into three horizontal sections. Agree that the top section is the head, the middle the body, and the bottom the legs.
What you need
- Drawing paper
- Washable markers
A phone timer is handy for timed rounds. Set out supplies before guests arrive, and give the group one practice turn if the rules are new to them.
How to play
- Everyone draws a monster head in the top third, extending two tiny neck lines just into the next section.
- Fold the drawing backward to hide the head, leaving the guide lines visible. Pass the paper to the left.
- Draw a body from the neck lines and extend two leg guide lines into the bottom section. Hide that section and pass left again.
- The final player draws the legs. Unfold the creatures together and give each a name. This is a cooperative activity with no scoring.
Prompts and round ideas
- A pumpkin astronaut
- A polite vampire
- A monster who loves ballet
- A ghost on vacation
- A robot witch
- A sleepy dragon
Make it work for your group
For younger children, use two sections instead of three. For adults, add a fourth section for a wildly impractical hat.
A host’s note
Use scrap paper for a practice fold. Do not announce a best artist; the unexpected combinations are the point.
Plan your party flow
Explain the aim before handing out supplies, then demonstrate one turn. Let guests join as a player, helper, or spectator. Stop while the group is still enjoying the game rather than adding extra rounds just to fill time.
